Okay, so you're looking for a photographer... perfect! But how do you know who the right fit is? If we're being honest, it can be tough to find the right "fit". Especially when there's so many photographers and so many different styles of photography. Whether you're looking for someone more light and airy, dark and moody, warm and golden, true to color, film-inspired, editorial, bright and colorful or matte - there's someone for everyone. But editing style is just the half of it. Every photographer approaches their sessions differently. Some photographers focus on the 'Pinterest Perfect' post, with little room to play. While others focus on all play, no posing.

One of the questions I get asked most often is "which one are you?" The short answer: I'm all about connection, light, and timeless emotion. But here's the longer, more honest version:

Light & Intention First

I'm drawn to open shade, soft light and clean backgrounds. Harsh sun, spotty lighting or distracting scenery? Not my thing. Sometimes, if the vibe calls for it, I'll play in the sun for a moment to give that dreamy sun flare, but more often than not, I choose locations with trees, open skies and scenery that allow my subjects to shine.

In a perfect world, I'd photograph every session with rolling hills, mountains and wide, dreamy skies. But this is Roseville we're talking about, and those types of locations are pretty limited. Most open land options are considered Private Property, and unfortunately if you want that rolling hills, open-land look, those locations naturally face east, which means we have to approach lighting a little more intentionally.

If you want that rolling hills, open-land look, we have to do a blue hour session - which honestly, I love. After the sun sets, it allows the sky to fill with color and the moon to take over the light. This creates images that feel calm, romantic and beautifully dreamy.

No matter the direction we face, light always comes first. Each session is intentionally planned around the best possible light so my clients can shine and the scenery simply supports the story.

Soft, Creamy and Timeless

One thing about me - I will never edit a session to match "my vibe" or to match my Instagram feed. Yes, neutral clothing makes it easier to edit, and comes across as more flattering. However, my intention is never to make you "match" what I want. I edit each session with individuality, purpose, and to maintain the vision and vibe that you brought. My editing style is soft, creamy and natural. Skin tones stay true, whites stay clean, and colors feel warm without being overdone so your images feel timeless rather than tied to a trend.

This approach is especially important when it comes to newborn photography. I believe in perfecting an image - smoothing where needed, balancing tone, and refining the overall look - but I don't edit babies into something they're not. I intentionally preserve the natural characteristics that make your baby your baby: tiny textures, birthmarks, and those fleeting details that change so quickly.

My goal isn't absolute perfection with no flaws at all - it's authenticity. Images that feel soft, honest, and real, so when you look back, you recognize the beauty of exactly who you were in that season.

Posed, But Never Stiff

People often say "I don't know how to pose" or "I'm awkward in front of a camera". Well, don't worry. It's my job to make you feel and look comfortable in front of my camera. My hope is that by the end of the session, you'll forget my camera was even there. You'll remember me - trust me - because of my silly jokes that I think are hilarious, or the way that I constantly say "Yes! Perfect! Cuuuuuuute." But, by the end of the session, my goal is for you to forget that I was capturing it all.

I guide my clients in subtle ways - how to stand, where to place hands, how to move - but the magic comes from authentic moments unfolding naturally. When I say "look at your husband" I don't want you to look at him and smile. My intention is that your husband is going to do as most of them do, and look at you, make a silly face and get you both laughing. That's okay - that's what I want. I want the two of you to sneak little kisses, whisper sweet nothings to each other, and embrace the session.

As for children, if they want to run... let them. Chase them, get down at their level. Yes, we'll of course get the dreamy Pinterest photo - but if your little one wants to play, then play. It's my job to capture the moment, to show the beauty of your family, and the joy you carry.

Who My Style Is For

My photography is for the mothers - the women who want their images to feel dreamy, romantic and real.

It's for the women who want their families captured as they truly are, not overly posed or forced, but full of connection and meaning. For those who want maternity photos that feel soft and romantic, and newborn photos that reflect exactly how they remember that season - tiny details, delicate features, and all the fleeting moments that pass too quickly. I never want a mama to look at their newborn photos and say "they're beautiful, but they don't look like my baby.

My work is for women who value the quiet in-between moments: the way your baby fits perfectly in your arms, the closeness between you and your husband, the way your little girl lights up when you throw her in the air.

If you're drawn to dreamy imagery, emotional connection, simplicity and intention, my style was created with you in mind.
